Sun Burn Home Remedies

Got a nasty sunburn?

How do you relieve the pain?

How do you get the skin to heal as quickly as possible?

Reach our for whatever help is available to cool off. Head to the bath tub and fill it with cool water and dump in a clean sock filled with oatmeal to make an oatmeal bath. Soak in it to relieve the discomfort.

If you have a bottle of pure lavender oil, you could add 15 drops of it to your bath water before you get in.

Milk is an excellent home remedy for sunburn. Reminds me of a story I was reading in an Archie or Jughead comic book years ago. Archie got sunburnt and Jughead slathered ice cream all over his back to soothe the burn. Milky vanilla ice cream sounds like a great treat for sunburns but I'd rather eat ice cream than smear it all over myself. I haven't tried it but might do so if I get desperate.

Aloe vera is a more conventional remedy. If you are lucky enough to own an aloe vera plant that is at least 3 to 5 years old, you own a natural, living, breathing first aid kit. Cut off a leaf from the plant and slice it lengthwise. Then press the colorless gel against your skin to heal it and soothe the sunburn.
